Today's "Song of the Day" goes to a man with one of the best voices in country music. That man is Randy Houser. Randy comes in to 2015 with three studio albums under his belt and heading towards his fourth. His third studio album How Country Feels, which was released on January 22, 2013 is still getting radio play. His fourth single of that album "Like a Cowboy" still gets a lot of spins even now in 2015. The first two singles from How Country Feels, "How Country Feels" and "Runnin' Outta Moonlight," both hit #1 on the US Country Airplay charts.
"We Went" is the first single from Hoser's upcoming fourth studio album. The song was originally released via Rolling Stone Country online on April 27, 2015. "We Went" was then released widely on May 18, 2015.
"We Went" is a much different song than his last single "Like a Cowboy" which is not a bad thing. In "Like a Cowboy," Randy uses a lot more vocal rang, showing off his beautiful range and why he is one of the purest singers in country. Although "We Went" may not take the same vocal talent, it does take a good deal of confidence to master a song like this. To me "We Went" could easily be a Luke Bryan hit. I love that Randy did it because this song will give him a lot more looks to those who only listen to the harder country songs. I think its safe to say that Randy might have picked up a few pointers from Luke while he was opening up for him on the Kick The Dust Up tour.
