Song of the Day "Livin' the Dream"

Today's song of the day belongs to Alabama's Drake White and his song "Livin' the Dream".
Born in Hokes Bluff Alabama, Drake got his first taste of performing music when he was a young boy singing in his church's choir. At the age of 14, Drake began to writing his own songs. Drake attended Gadsden Community College and the Auburn University where he earned a degree in Building Science.
After college, Drake worked in Nashville, Tennessee  as a general contractor untill he quit to persue a career in music

I first heard Drake White when he opened up for Little Big Town at the Greensboro Colleseum.
Not knowing what to expect from Drake, I was quite shocked when I heard him.
His voice is amazing live. Even with only playing half the stadium, his voice carried very well. He  also has a great presence on stage jamming away on his guitar. The song that really hooked me was his older single called "Simple Life" which is about not needing the flashy things in life and in Drakes words "I aint no suit and tie. Lord I wasn't cut out for that type of living."

Drake White will be playing in the big leagues when he gets to open on select dates for the great Zac Brown Band.

The new single "Livin' the Dream" was first posted on YouTube on December 4th 2015 just in time for the holiday season.

"Livin' the Dream' was written by Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame member Tom Douglas,
The Cadillac Three member Jaren Johnston, and Grammy winner Luke Laird.

(Tom Douglas)
On October 5th 2014, Tom Douglas had the great honor of being inducted into the Nashville Songwriter Hall of Fame. Tom has had his hand in such songs as number one "Grown Men Don't Cry" by Tim McGraw, "Little Rock" by Collin Raye, and "I Got a Car" by George Straight.

(Jaren Johnston)
Jaren Johnston is the front man for the band The Cadillac Three. The Cadillac Three is a Country Rock group that originated in Nashville, Tennessee and are signed to Big Machine. Big Machine is also home of Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, and Taylor Swift. Johnston has also helped write "Beachin" by Jake Owen, "Don't It" by Billy Currington, and "Sunshine & Whiskey" by Frankie Ballard. Johnston has quite an amazing list of songwriter credits.

(Luke Laird)
Hailing from Hartstown, Pennsylvania, Luke Laird is the proud owner of 19 #1 songs. Laird has won a Grammy as a producer for Kacey Musgraves' Same Trailer Different Park album. He was also nominated for Best Country Song as a writer with "American Kids" by Kenny Chesney and "Give Me Back My Hometown" by Eric Church. He has also won numerous CMA's, ACMA's, and BMI Country Music awards.

Song of the Day "Underdogs" (Football Sunday Edition)

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY! And no there is not a paper in view today (TLC is on Dec. 13th); but its week 13 of the NFL season. This week is extra special to many people not only because its crunch time for many people's favorite team,
but it's also the last week of the regular season in many fantasy football leagues.
The time of the year where a few members can be real smug and the rest have to pay up.
Just remember, even though you may be out of the playoffs,
you can always ruin someone else's chance!

The Titans can spoil the Texans or Colts if they pull out wins against them in week 16 and 17. We just need some Mariota magic to get some momentum for him to carry into next season.

The pic above is the Mariota magic I'm talking about, and we are going to need it, a lot of it.

Today's song of the day is intended for those football fans out there whose team is trying to fight for that win. For the fan whose team may be out of the playoff race.
Finally, for those whose NFL team or Fantasy team is the "Underdogs"

"Underdogs" is the 9th track off of Chris Young's 5th studio album "I'm Comin' Over".
This record was truly a milestone for Chris Young
as "I'm Comin' Over" debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart.
This album will always be a little extra special to Chris because it was his first number 1 album.

Chris' hard work was well paid off by the number 1 charting. Chris produced the record, performed it, and wrote 9 out of the 11 songs off of the album. Chris wanted to do something different with this album. He did because before this he had not produced his own album. Along his side to take on this huge task of Producing an album to be put out by RCA was Corey Crowder.

In 2008 Corey signed a record deal and released a full length album with indie label Tooth & Nail Records. In 2010 Corey signed a publishing deal with Universial Music Publishing Group where he cut with such artists as Kenny Rogers, The Cadillac Three, and A Thousand Horses.

"Underdogs" was written by Corey and Chris along with Josh Hoge. Hoge recently saw a lot of success when he co wrote "Used to Love You Sober" for Kane Brown which has now sold over 100,000 singles. Hoge has also had a part in writing a song for Justin Moore.

Flashback Friday "Good Directions"

Todays Flashback Friday takes us back to the great year of 2005, the year Youtube was created, Pope Benedict XVI was inagurated, and Hong Kong Disneyland was created.

On top of all that, on October 18th, 2005, Billy Currington released his second studio album Doin' Somethin' Right. His second album was really his break out album, giving him his first number one on the US Country Chart with the song "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right."

The second single that went to the radio from this album was "Why, Why, Why" Another great song, but this one did not do as well as "Must Be Doin' Somethin' Right" with a peak of 13 on the US Country Chart.

With the album looking to be in decline they released the third and final single from Doin' Somethin' Right. This third single is the focus of this Flashback Friday, and is called "Good Directions".

"Good Directions" spent three weeks at the top of the charts earning Billy Currington his second number one song.

This song was written by two people. The woman who has a writing credit is named Rachel Thibodeau. Rachel has had writing credits for other artists such as Steve Holly, Reba McEntire, and Parmalee. Now the other writer of the song, you may recognize his name, because he goes by Luke Bryan. Thats right! Luke Bryan got his start as a songwriter, and the song that really put him on the map was "Good Directions." Currington took over the song and made hit his single right around the time Bryan's first album was coming out. Bryan stated how most of the interviews he was doing at the time would include questions about "Good Directions" instead of his own single "All My Friends Say." "Good Directions" was origionally going to be called "Right Back Here To Me (The Sweet Tea Song)" until it was changed for Curringtons album.

Above is Billy Currington's "Good Direction." This is the version that went number one for Currington and helped launch Luke Bryans career. Below is "Good Directions" performed by the man who wrote it, Luke Bryan.

Give both versions a listen and tell us which one you think is better.

Song of the Day "Said Nobody"

Today's song is from up and coming group Old Dominion. On October 7, 2014 Old Dominion released their self titled EP with 6 tracks on it. The second track on that EP was the song that really put Old Dominion on the map, and that song was "Break Up With Him". The success from this song got them national AirPlay, national recognition as a band, and the ability to go out and open up for big acts. Like they did with Kenny Chesney this past summer.

Matthew Ramsey-Lead Vocals

Trevor Rosen-Guitar/Keyboards

Whit Sellers-Drums

Geoff Sprung-Bass Guitar

Brad Tursi-Guitar

"Break Up With Him" was the first major success as a band of Old Dominion, but individually the members of the band have done some amazing song writing.
Brad Tursi, the guitar player, recently celebrated a number 1 hit for a song he wrote called
"A Guy Walks Into a Bar" performed by Tyler Farr. Tursi and Old Dominion front man Matthew Ramsey both had a hand in writing another big hit "Save It for a Rainy Day" performed by the great Kenny Chesney. Ramsey and guitar/keyboard player Trevor Rosen wrote Dierks Bentley's "Say You Do". Another one you guys should know that Trevor Rosen had a part in writing was the song "Sangria" performed by Blake Shelton. All of these four songs that Old Dominion has had a hand in writing have hit number 1 on the US Country Airplay Charts.
Even if you didn't know exactly who Old Dominion was, most of you knew of their work.

The Song of the Day "Said Nobody" is the number 4 track off Old Dominions first full studio album Meat and Candy. I was listening to the album, randomly shuffling through the songs and I found this one. The guitar riffs slowly baited me in at the beginning, then at the chorus the guitar just had me hooked. Its a real good feel good song that's all about the things "nobody" ever says, like "Don't come any closer. Don't give me a kiss, 'cause I don't wanna taste your lips. Said nobody. Said No Body Ever."

"Said Nobody" was written by Trevor Rosen, Matthew Ramsey, and Brad Tursi.

Bellow is the song brought to you by Old Dominions youtube VEVO account.

Ever Wonder What Luke Bryan's First Guitar Looks Like?

Over the summer I had the privilege of going to the Country Music Hall of Fame. During the time I visited they had the "Luke Bryan" exhibit. They had all sorts of his stuff displayed including the bumper of the number 2 car driven by Brad Keselowski, with "Crash My Party" decals on it.
They also had jersey he was presented with from the home team of the stadiums which he sold out. Those consisted of a "BRYAN" Philadelphia Eagles jersey, Chicago Bears jersey, and a few others.

The one thing that I found the coolest was the very first guitar that Like Bryan had. The plaque above read that the guitar was given to Luke by his parents when he was 14 years old.

The guitar was a Silvertone Model 319. I really wanted to find a picture of a brand new version of the one he had. So, since Luke was born in 1976, and he got the guitar when he was 14, (I am assuming that his parents got him a new one from that year) that would mean I would need to find a picture of a 1990 Silvertone Model 319. When I went digging I found that Silvertone Guitars is owned by Sears which I found interesting. I found a Picture of a few, but was unable to confirm if it was a 1990 or not; but hey, it looks pretty damn similar. (Fun fact! Silverstone Guitars is owned by SEARS! The department store likes to rock out!)

The picture above I found on eBay. This one (that looks very similar to the one that was in the Hall of Fame) is up for $119 right now. Another one that could pass as a double was marked down to $68 or best offer. Then some really nice ones with a different finish were going for around $200. Seeing that you can get one for around $100 dollars makes me think this was like the equivalent to his parents today going down to Target and buying the dope Adam Levine signature guitar for only $82.99!!

Hey Adam... Why so serious?! Get ur cheap ass guitar out of my face Adam.

But anyway, It was awesome to get to go see all of the different things from Luke Bryan's life from the number 2 "Crash My Party" car, to the tux and dress that he and his wife wore to an award show.

I,ll leave y'all with some of the other pics I have from the Luke Bryan exhibit and other pics around the Hall.

Be sure to go follow Luke Bryan on twitterinstagram, and Facebook.

Next time you are in beautiful Nashville be sure to swing by the Country Music Hall of Fame and go see history with your won eyes! In the mean time follow them on twitterinstagram, and Facebook.

Song of the Day "Fix"

Today's song of the day goes to North Carolina's own Chris Lane. Growing up in North Carolina, Chris was exposed to and influenced by Alan Jackson, George Strait, and Kenny Chesney. Because Chris was born in 1984 and spent his early years in the 90's, which lead to some of his strong R&B influences like Justin Timberlake, Usher, and the Backstreet Boys. Chris has the fortune of being the first and so far only artist on the record label Big Loud Records. Big Loud Records is just one head of the three headed monster which is Big Loud. The other two heads being Big Loud Shirt, which is the publishing company that has such writers as Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley (Tyler and Kelley are the front men for a little band called Florida Georgia Line), and Rodney Clawson. And the final head is Big Loud Mountian which is the management portion that manages such acts as Dallas Smith, Chris Lane, and Florida Georgia Line.

One of the biggest things Chris has going for him is the man who is helping him with his entire career. That man is the Canadian Wizard himself, Joey Moi.

Joey Moi has mastermind numerous smash hits over his career working with such acts as Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Nickelback, Three Days Grace, ReaLynn, and Owl City. Chris and Joey make a big statement with the first single and title frack from his EP Fix. The single "Fix" highlights Chris' R&B background in this very poppy track that could easy cross over into the pop genre. It is a fun song that is all about wanting to be a girl's habbit that she can't kick. The first line of the chorus is "I'll be your slow grind, that late night, your Walter White high," and any song that makes a Breaking Bad reference is fine by me.

Below is the lyric video for "Fix" from Chris Lane's YouTube VEVO account.
